Dear Ministers,
I am writing to you with urgency regarding the ongoing illegal retention of the Dutch minor, Insiya, currently held in India.
As you meet in New Delhi to discuss 'trust' and 'future ties', I must remind you that a Dutch child remains hostage in India, depriving her of her rights as a Dutch citizen.
While her father is sentenced to 8.5 years imprisonment for the violent kidnapping, Insiya is forced to live undocumented with a convicted fugitive.
It is unacceptable that a Dutch national has to wait nine years for a solution. Therefore diplomatic relations must include her return to the Netherlands. There is no ground and no reason to keep Insiya in India.
I strongly urge you to use this visit and dialogue for action in the best interest of Insiya. We look forward to Insiya's immediate repatriation to the Netherlands. Please do not leave this meeting without a solution.
